A Simple, Beautiful Day…

20171104_145044Got to sleep in until 8am this morning. (Can I get an Amen!)  And then I spent time reading in Acts 10 .. “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right.” Sigh… kinda thought I was his favorite some days. Turns out? If he’ll heal and love a hot mess like me? He’ll do it for you! 🙂

Hopped on the computer and reached out to a couple people God had laid on my heart this week, and to the person funding my ability to donate books.  Told him how I was able to give some to a rehab counselor this week, and how I also had a couple in my purse I was taking to the mall.  I prayed over them, that God would put someone in my path today that needed a bit of hope.

On the way to the mall I prayed .. “God, bless Brad & Jessi so big today! Draw people into the store today and let’s have a crazy busy day!” An aching feet and back along with a full heart are physical evidence of a prayer answered.  From 2-9 I didn’t sit.  But I got to meet little Ollie and his big brothers (seriously the cutest boys) and I got to hold a precious baby girl while Momma shopped.  I had the privilege of talking airplanes with a former pilot. Antiques with a man waiting on his wife who told him he couldn’t come into Victoria’s Secret with her. (good strategic location for our store!)  I looked up and saw the family from church and heard of all the amazing things happening in our young adults group.  I opened the door to the cubby to pull out my Pay Day candy bar for dinner and I was drawn to the book I had brought.  I felt lead to put it under the counter.  It wasn’t 15 minutes later that my divine appointment showed up.  I told her how beautiful her hair was, and as she teared up she said “That was the nicest thing you could’ve said to me today.” She let me in on the secret of the wig…a result of a battle with breast cancer.  As we talked I knew she was the one. She went home with a copy of “Living Free”.   I took a picture of a couple ladies my age standing in front of Moose – and it made me miss my best friend I haven’t seen in way too long.  They reminded me of us.  I had a creative thought … Jessi needs t-shirts that say “Jesus and Junk” – The Kris Thomas collection. Ha ha!  And this? only the tip of the iceberg of the conversations I had today.

My heart seriously could not be any fuller as I try to wind down. And? It was all free. All just simple, amazing human connection. Put your phones down a bit tomorrow and enjoy the same! Strike up a conversation with a stranger – I double dog dare ya!  But better yet?  Talk to your family.  Show your children the good feeling of time spent together device free.  And don’t forget the hugs.  🙂

Good night friends… sweet dreams!  (PS – Don’t forget to set your clocks back tonight!)
