The Fruit of the Spirit

“God will put the grapes in our reach, but not in our mouth.”

grapes

Grapes…they are fruit…fruit is good, healthy and sweet.  The bible talks about fruit.  We read in Galatians that the fruit of the Holy Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness and self-control.   In other words?  If you are a Christian, this is the fruit you should be bearing.

God will put the grapes within our reach….

God will often use others to be the hands and feet of Jesus.  They will help us in times of trouble by manifesting Jesus through their actions.  They will share the gospel plan of hope and salvation.   Those who have the Holy Spirit living on the inside will be known by their actions.  Matthew 7:16 states – “You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles?  – –  Do others see Jesus when they see you?

But not in our mouth…

God doesn’t force feed us the grapes.  He gave us free will to choose the fruit we bear.  We can choose life or death.  We can choose to walk in peace, love, joy and all the fruits of the Spirit.  Conversely, we can choose to walk in fear, anxiety, doubt, hate, jealousy, envy and strife (that’s what the devil is hoping you choose!)

How can I bear the fruit of the spirit?…

Acts 2:38 tells us how… Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Once you have the Holy Spirit living on the inside?  The journey to freedom begins!  And my friends, it’s not always an easy journey, but it sure is worth it!!

This life is but a vapor…

In James 4:14 we are reminded just how short our time on this earth is…What do you know about tomorrow? How can you be so sure about your life? It is nothing more than mist that appears for only a little while before it disappears.”

There is a heaven to gain and a hell to shun…

“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” – Matthew 25:46

If you are reading this I hope that you choose to eat the grapes while on this earth, and choose life so you can hang with me in heaven for eternity.
