Yesterday I painted an entire bathroom, foyer and wall in my living room. Went to the store for groceries, more paint and skimmed my pool. I cleaned by hand (bucket of water/Pinesol and sponge) an entire staircase and two landings… I looked at social media maybe 10 minutes tops – and you know what? I was EXHAUSTED at the end of the day – but I noticed my spirit being lifted, being “HAPPIER”, less worry and anxiety….
It was announced a year or so ago that FB did an “experiment” with people to see if what they showed in their feeds would eventually affect their moods – their posts… and of course it did. What you put in, is what you get out..
3 months ago we got bombarded with posts, reports, some true, some over the top, about the pandemic. We isolated ourselves, we stopped working and living and guess what? The majority of us are still here with no concerns. The virus is real – the response was out of control and caused more damage than the virus ever will. But some continue to live in fear… isolated… when will that stop? My 3 year old grandson who is smarter than a whip was at my house this week and his mom said “I have to go pick up food for camping” and he looked at me without blinking an eye and said “Dewine finally opened up so we can camp.” – little eyes and ears take it all in – so do big eyes and ears – and what we put in, is what we get out. You put in fear and anxiety or anger and hate – that’s what’s going to come out.
I noticed about a week or so ago that I felt worse when I put my phone down than I did when I picked it up as the “positive” posts I would typically see in my feed were disappearing… I watched people I love falling away from God, women and men once on fire now falling into the hands of the enemy and in a blatant way .. people being mean and hurtful… people scared and lonely… people letting politics divide life-long friendships instead of agreeing to disagree and still walk in love. Where is the Love? God tells us to “humble” yourselves and walk in love! (“Pride comes before the fall”)
The point of this post? I challenge you to put your phone down – or at least stay off social media. And then tell me how you feel after a day or two… pick up a new hobby, clean your house, get outside and just walk, read your bible, pray … pray big prayers… do something positive and productive and watch how your mood changes!
The bible clearly tells us this is what brings us peace…
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.” – Philippians 4:8,9
Praying God’s peace is on all my friends… love you all!
