Opinions…

Protests! Wear a Mask! Don’t Wear a Mask! I found myself feeling sad, frustrated and at times even angry shortly after selecting the little blue FB icon. In March when this pandemic started I knew the most important thing was to keep my eyes on Jesus. To share His word. The power of the Gospel. Fast forward to July, 2020…

A week ago I made a post and God convicted my heart. My post wasn’t pointing others toward Jesus it was sharing with them my opinion… the same as I see many other Christians doing… all wanting to be heard because we are passionate about our beliefs. People determined that the world should hear their opinion and acknowledge they are right. As I felt a heavy sense of conviction I had the thought so loud in my head it was as if I could see it written on a chalkboard in my minds eye… “Your opinion changes nothing and doesn’t bring anyone closer to Jesus which is what they really need! He’s the only one who can change things!” Ouch! So I prayed, repented and asked for forgiveness.

Boasted opinions cause division. Divisions in families, friendships and in Gods church. Division is how the enemy attacks and conquers families, friendships and members of the church. “United We Stand. Divided We Fall.” No matter what is going on in the world around us, we should agree to disagree and walk in LOVE! The bible says over and over again to walk in LOVE! It also says that love is patient, kind, long suffering, does not envy, does not boast, is not proud, does not dishonor others, is not self-seeking, is not easily angered, does not rejoice in evil, rejoices in truth. Always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves, love never fails! God is love. If we walk in love the way the bible says to, we win! The devil doesn’t understand love, so he can’t defeat it!

Imagine a world where Christians put aside their opinions, their differences, and they came together for one common cause – Kingdom Work! Sharing the Gospel and uniting in prayer that God would expose the evil and corruption that exists so prevalent today. This is what we are told to do in Romans 14:1 … “As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions.”

If you love Jesus I challenge you to walk in love and introduce Him to those around you who need hope amidst the turmoil of the evil around us.
